BOOK PRESENTATION:
Female Utopias
Why do we still need not only utopias in the 20s of the 21st century but also women* and feminist utopias?
The philosophical tradition of thinking about utopias, which goes back to Plato and Thomas More, connects the concept of utopia with the idea of a radical alternative to an unjust social order.
Utopia does not simply promise an existence without inequality and exploitation but suggests imagining a harmonization of various social conditions that are not opposed to nature.
On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the author and professor Evelyn Bernadette Mayr, the political philosopher Olga Shparaga, and the artist Elke Punkt Fleisch will present their book “Female Utopias”, published by the Austrian publisher Female Positions, explore the revolutionary potential of desires and ask the question: “How much utopia is needed for a lasting change in social conditions?”.
Begining 7pm. Admission is free.
